Parking details

Parked on the street. Even though SF is not easy, where it's parked in SOMA there are spots virtually every day in the afternoon and evenings are no problem at all. The only exception is Monday night because of street sweeping. I know the streets around here very well, so ask me - I can help you find a spot. Text me if you have questions or need help. If you have to return in the morning you can park in the lot at 40 Oak Grove St. If it's late morning (11am or later) most days during business hours I can allow you to park at a 2 hr spot or at a meter - but only by arrangement via text.

C.j. has really detailed notes which really made the whole renting process a smooth one.

First time using Turo. CJ provided all information clearly and on time. I requested an extension, and he was very responsive (was approved and got to keep the car longer 😀). Would definitely rent from him again!

I rented a 2012 Miata from CJ for a day trip from San Francisco to Santa Cruz. Overall the trip was amazing, went top down the whole way and the car was fun to drive. I picked up the car on a small side street in the city and it unlocked automatically with Turo's check in procedure. After some fiddling we found the keys. Unfortunately the batteries in the keys were dead, so we had to use the small manual key to lock and unlock the car as well as start it - quite an inconvenience. We managed to drop the top and we were on our way without much issue. The car itself wasn't too dirty. I would say it was "acceptable" though I did stop by the house to wipe down the Steering Wheel and gear shift since they felt a bit sticky. The radio has an AUX cord, which was located in the glove box, however we both had iPhones with no headphone jacks so be sure to bring your adapter. There's no bluetooth in this model year. I noticed at night, that the interior lights of the car did not work at all, which made getting in and out of the car at night a major hassle. The car is great on gas, it only cost me $25 to fill up after driving around all day from SF to Santa Cruz along the coast with the top down. Returning the car was a bit of a pain because there was no free street parking in the area. I ended up taking it to a parking lot nearby and paying $10 for all day parking. Not too bad, but I would've liked to know beforehand. The pick up and drop off area is about 10 mins from the CalTrain station and 15 mins from Powell Street BART.

Very clear and concise instructions on how to pick up and drop off. Parking in the area is tough, but certainly to be expected. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed the car and if I'm ever out this way again, I'll certainly try to snag the Miata for another go around.
